Happy Birthday to me!

While I'm off celebrating/studying with T, I wanted to pass along this quick link from New York Magazine:

Succulents & Sweet Tea

Southern Wedding Magazine never fails me...

I love the seating at this elegant backyard reception in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Look, no tent! I wish we had the luxury of weather that predictable up in DC!

We will definitely be serving sweet tea at the wedding, and, most likely, organic lemonade (see here for my love of the stuff!). I think this presentation is so simple & lovely, and yet elegant, too.

Don't they just look so happy! And, I think this is one of the nicest outdoor dance floors I've seen.

South Carolina Wedding

I don't think I could convince T to wear a bow-tie, but other than that, isn't it great to see you ideas in action?

Stephen Bonanno Bridesmaids

So, it used to be that if a bride ordered six pairs of Bonannos for her bridesmaids, she got a pair for herself for free. Does anyone know if this is still true? Either way, I love the monogrammed Emma's, and I think it would be nice to have coordinating navy and white sandals for all of my bridesmaids (and a pair with my new monogram for me for the reception). But do you think sandals are too casual for a church wedding?

Oh, hi there!

I've made a resolution to become a better commenter, so if you're over here because I commented on your post, please say hi! I want everyone to know that I am an absolutely loyal daily reader for many blogs, but I don't always (read: almost never) take the time to comment. I'm trying to get better about it! I love what you all have to say, so thank you for being such fabulous bloggers!

P.S. My other, non-wedding blog can be found at Making Stuff and Doing Things!

Bridesmaid Gifts

I don't usually click on links from The Knot that are trying to sell you stuff, but in procrastinating on studying this morning, I decided to check out the wedding party gift sale they're having. Aren't these bags great (and under $20, too)? I think they would look great with a grass green or bright red monogram. I'm imagining them stuffed with either "June in DC" supplies (a waterbottle, sunscreen, snacks) or "wedding weekend survival" supplies (a waterbottle, sunscreen, snacks but also bandaids, asprin, and bobby pins). What would you fill them with?

P.S. I love these, too! MapTotes are the best, and they come in all different cities/areas!

Rubber Stamp Wedding Invites?

Inspired by an old card, Hannah used RubberStamps.net to create custom stamps with artwork she uploaded herself, and stamped save-the-dates and invitations on paper purchased at Kate’s Paperie in New York.

I actually really like the way these invitations turned out, so I went over to RubberStamps.net and tried to make my own invitation rubber stamps. The site was pretty easy to navigate, but I couldn't find any of the lovely fonts Hannah used. Has anyone ever tried to make their own rubber stamps using another site? Has anyone ever seen rubber stamp invites in real life--how do they look?

Pre-Wedding Yoga

I like the idea of doing a bridal party yoga session (not in our dresses as above) the morning of the wedding. I think it would a nice way to relax and destress before the big day. However, a friend of mine thinks it sounds like I'm trying to get one more "workout" in for my bridesmaids, and will be "just one more mandated activity" during the wedding weekend. What do you think?

Wedgewood Cakes

Although it doesn't quite match the "theme" of my wedding, I am just in love with Wedgewood-inspired wedding cakes. The more I look at wedding magazines/blogs, the more things I find that I love that don't quite "match." Does that mean I should change the overall theme of my wedding, or just accept that there are some things I find beautiful that might not make it into my wedding?
