Last one for the night: elegant new/mexican food

Take a look at these pictures and just try to tell me a New/Mexican menu can't be fresh and lovely...

This looks too pretty to be called a "taco bar"

Of course.

Yes, I am really missing New Mexico today.

...I let my bridesmaids choose any dress they wanted as long as it was somewhere on the color wheel between yellow and red, which actually turned out better than I expected.

Love the dresses*, and, of course, love the background. From a lovely wedding in ABQ, found here.

*I guess really I love the idea of the dresses, although the dresses are quite lovely. For me, I'd do the range from green to blue...maybe even get some turquoise in the mix?

If I had an extra $600 today...

Every year, my alma mater hosts a silent auction fundraiser in the spring. The mothers who hosted the event were always so creative; I can remembering volunteering at one auction in high school where the MIC (mother in charge) had groups of us "act out" some of the big ticket items (think Jackie O sunglasses and big hats for a Bermuda getaway, or goggles and scarves for a ski vacation in Vail).

While haven't quite made it to the point where I will be attending the silent auction as a fabulous and generous alum, I couldn't help but check out the online auction they've added this year. One family has donated a week at their house in Taos, NM (complete with tennis courts, a swimming pool, and, of course, gorgeous mountain views). I know it's early in the auction, but the current bid is only $600! Just think, if I had a few hundred dollars burning a hole in my pocket, I could be looking forward to a fabulous New Mexican spring break (instead of one spent in Baltimore, applying for jobs). Or perhaps I would save it away for next year's mini-moon?

Ah, well, a girl can dream...

Elbow length sleeves

Love this look. Conservative, but still fun. Unexpected, but not altogether nontraditional. And, perhaps the only way I can get away with wearing a short dress in the church...

Unfortunately, the dress looks less cute on the website, here.

Monogrammed tumblers

Also torn from the pages of Brides Magazine.

Wouldn't these be fun with our wedding monogram? I think they'd look especially nice filled with bright green margaritas...

So much dress...but still, so pretty.

Another one from the Vineyard Collection, but I can't find it online. Image as torn from the March 2010 issue of Brides Magazine.

Look. At. That. Hair.

Wow.

Their whole lovely wedding here.

Buttons

Buttons were customized with quotes and photos about Nick and Karen, things like "Virginia is for Lovers," "I Heart NY," and "Coke tastes better out of a glass bottle" (Nick loves Coke, and guests enjoyed Coke in glass bottles, as well as Guarana, a drink from Brazil where Karen is from). Karen says, "The buttons were a hit with guests who added flair to their outfits throughout the evening."
