"Our people"

My people

JTP's people

"Our people" is how JTP refers to our wedding party. These are essentially the looks I'm currently envisioning. What do y'all think?

Yard games

Casual elegance

These pictures = my perfect wedding.

Go faux?

From here.

I just don't know if my (entire extended) family even owns that much flower-themed jewelry. But wouldn't it make a great "something borrowed"?

OR, I could start collecting pieces now, use the "bouquet" at my wedding, and get to keep the whole arrangement as a permanent memento. What do you think?

Let them eat (fruit) cake.

Quite possibly the first cake I've ever fallen in love with, based purely on visuals (more here). And look, Mom, we could even use your columns!

Monograms

Would you use your new initials, or your old ones?

Backyard Fun

This reception looks like so much fun! What would a backyard reception be without lawn games? And I think the brown butcher paper/colored pencils combo is a simple and fun way to accessorize some of the tables...

Thoughts?

Veils

Although it can be tricky to pick the right one, I think that a proportionate veil is an important complement to a short wedding dress.

A simple, shoulder length veil adds softness.

I love birdcage veils, and I think they add a level of sophistication.

I love this almost-elbow length option, too--the fabric is a little "perkier," which I think makes it both soft and sophisticated.

What do you think?

Lights!

Three of my favorite night-time lighting pictures:

Another Backyard Wedding

Okay, I think I like flower arrangements even more-- I want chard arranged in vases at our reception! I like the colors in these arrangements, and I think they would coordinate well with the navy blue.

Backyard Wedding in Sonoma County

I like the style of these flower arrangements--not too fussy, but still bright and pretty.

Mismatched navy blue bridesmaid dresses! I think the look worked well here, although I would want everyone's dress to be about the same length.

More pictures here.

Two-Color Invitations

Again, I don't know where I first saw these invitations, but I think they're so fun! For our wedding, I don't think the lawn chair/lobster motif is what I want, but I love the way the designer used multiple color inks to brighten up a traditional layout. What do you think would be better for us:

navy red

or

navy green

Bella Figura

I love the look of letterpress, even though the cost pushes it a little bit (okay, a lotta bit) out of my invitation budget. Bella Figura is an eco-friendly letterpress company that has some beautiful designs. Although they look a lot like other high end letterpress invitations, they use recycled paper and soy-based inks. Here are two of my favorite designs:

Maps

I can't remember where I found this picture, but I love the juxtaposition of the traditional typeface and the unexpected map watermark. This particular invitation map was for a Naval Academy wedding, but I think it would be perfect for JTP & me as well!

Mason jars

I still love this look, probably because it reminds me of how JTP used to drink green tea or water out of pasta jars, because he was always loosing the monogrammed travel mug I bought him.

Something old...

This is what I was imagining--just a little table set up with pictures of our family.

I want to go:

Thread Bridesmaid: Seersucker Bridesmaid Dresses

Cotton seersucker--in so many colors and styles. Also, they have pockets. I think each of my bridesmaids could find a style she liked in blue... and maybe a white seersucker one for me?

It's short, white, and has pockets...what do you think?

Hi, Mom!

Hi, Mom (and Elle). I know I've got 17 months to go, but instead of emailing you (both) during every study break, I've decided to use this blog to post some of my favorite pictures and links. Check back soon to see my latest ideas!
